There is not a lot of information about the school in Poljane till 1880. The oldest boys’ school in the area was founded in \u0160kofja Loka in 1627, in Poljane in 1785<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

1866\/67:<\/span><\/strong> A classroom was settled in a sacristy, the sacristian was a teacher at the same time.<\/p>\n

1869:<\/span> <\/strong>Teachers were paid by provinces whereas costs for school buildings were paid by communes.<\/p>\n

1880:<\/span><\/strong> A house was bought\u00a0and transformed into a school building.<\/p>\n

1882\/83:<\/span> <\/strong>A one-year school was expanded into a two-year school with four classes.<\/p>\n

1883:<\/span><\/strong> The first books for the school library were bought.<\/p>\n

1879\u22121918:<\/span><\/strong> Due to different of health problems of students and employees classes were interrupted eight times.<\/p>\n

1899:<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>It was decided that a new school would be built.<\/p>\n

1899\/1900:<\/span> <\/strong>There were 456 school-age children in Poljane but only a minority attended classes.<\/p>\n

1893\/94:<\/span> <\/strong>The system of repetitive school was introduced.<\/p>\n

1840\u22121903:<\/span><\/strong> A book where the most successful pupils were recorded, called “The Golden Book” was introduced, and the names of painters Janez and Jurij \u0160ubic as well as a writer Ivan Tav\u010dar were noted down.<\/p>\n

1905:<\/span> <\/strong>Lessons started at a branch school in Malenski Vrh \u2013 twice a week.<\/p>\n

1906:<\/span> <\/strong>At Poljane school a class for pupils from remote places was organized twice a week.<\/p>\n

1906:<\/span> <\/strong>Building of a new public school started.<\/p>\n

1908:<\/span><\/strong> Lessons started in the new school building.<\/p>\n

1908\/09:<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>The school was expanded into a three-year school and the class for pupils from remote places extended to two classes.<\/p>\n

1911:<\/span><\/strong> A four-year school was organized in Poljane whereas in Malenski Vrh a regular one-year school was organized for children from the villages Malenski Vrh, Jazbine, Gorenja Ravan, Dolenja Ravan, Dolenja \u017detina, Jelovica, \u010cabra\u010de, Su\u0161a and Volaka.<\/p>\n

Classes were greatly obstructed during World War I.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

1920:<\/span> <\/strong>The school became a five-year educational institution.<\/p>\n

1926:<\/span> <\/strong>Classes were interrupted due to a large flood.<\/p>\n

1927:<\/span> <\/strong>The number of schoolchildren decreased and the school turned into a four-year school.<\/p>\n

1929:<\/span> <\/strong>Lessons were interrupted due to a very severe winter.<\/p>\n

1930:<\/span><\/strong> The repetitive school was joined to the ordinary fourth class and the school became a five-year school again.<\/p>\n

1935:<\/span><\/strong> Skiing lessons for schoolchildren were organized.<\/p>\n

1941:<\/span><\/strong> The school was a seven-year one with one class for remote children.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of World War II Germans started German language courses for adults. Lessons at school were also in German from December 1941 till July 1943.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

1944:<\/span><\/strong> The school building was destroyed by fire.<\/p>\n

1945:<\/span><\/strong> There were 186 children in five classes. Lessons were held in private houses in Poljane and Malenski Vrh.<\/p>\n

The school year 1970\/71 was the last year of an eight-year school in Poljane. There were around 200 schoolchildren.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

1971\/1972:<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>The\u00a0Poljane school became a branch school of Ivan Tav\u010dar Primary School in Gorenja vas.<\/p>\n

Till 1980 the birth rate had been decreasing but from that year on it started increasing again.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

1986:<\/span> <\/strong>A new branch school building was built at the present location and lessons started in December 1986.<\/p>\n

A painter Ive \u0160ubic started working working on a five-piece fresco with the help of two arts students, his daughter Maja \u0160ubic and Gigo de Brea.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

1987:<\/span><\/strong> The first two groups of pre-school children started going to the kindergarten adjacent to the school.<\/p>\n

1997\/98:<\/span><\/strong> An eight-year school was founded and the school building extended, which enabled 322 pupils to attend lessons. A branch school in Javorje had 39 pupils and the kindergarten 61 pre-school children.<\/p>\n

1998\/99:<\/span><\/strong> A new computer classroom was equipped by eight new computers, the sports club Mladi vrh was established.<\/p>\n

2003\/04:<\/span><\/strong> A nine-year primary school was introduced, the school obtained the title of EKO school.<\/p>\n

2004\/05:<\/span><\/strong> After\u00a0school services started at Javorje\u00a0 branch school<\/p>\n

2007\/08:<\/span><\/strong> A new gym was brought\u00a0into use.<\/p>\n

2010\/11:<\/span><\/strong> The title of UNESCO school was obtained.<\/p>\n

2011\/12:<\/span> <\/strong>The title of CULTURAL school was obtained.<\/p>\n

2012\/2013:<\/span><\/strong> An electronic markbook and a class record book were introduced, energy restoring of the school building was completed.<\/p>\n

2017\/18:<\/span><\/strong> A new, safer traffic order was introduced on the west side of the school building, with a bus and van stop for pupils, a roundabout included.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
